Table of Contents
- Permanent Resident of Haryana — The farmer or labourer must be a permanent resident of Haryana with valid proof of domicile.
- Farmer or Agricultural Labourer — The scheme covers three groups — farmers who own or cultivate their own land, agricultural labourers who work on farms for daily wages, and market yard labourers who handle agricultural produce in HSAMB mandis. If your work is connected to farming in any of these ways this scheme covers you.
- No Age Limit — This is one of the most important updates to the scheme. Following the 2024 amendment the Jeevan Suraksha Yojana now covers farmers and labourers of every age without any restriction. The previous age limit of 10 to 65 years has been completely removed. A young child helping on the family farm and an elderly farmer in his 70s both receive equal protection under this scheme.
- Accident Must Happen During Agricultural Work — The death or disability must have occurred while the person was directly and actively engaged in an agricultural activity. An accident that happened somewhere completely unrelated to farming does not qualify. The connection to agricultural work must be clear and documentable.
- No Premium — No Fee — Nothing — You do not pay a single rupee for the protection this scheme provides. No premium, no registration fee, no annual renewal, nothing. The Jeevan Suraksha Yojana covers every eligible farmer and agricultural labourer in Haryana automatically and completely free of cost.
The Kisan Evam Khetihar Majdoor Jeevan Suraksha Yojana covers death and disability caused by accidents during the following agricultural activities:
- Accidents involving agricultural machinery — tractors, threshers, harvesters, tillers
- Injuries from agricultural tools and equipment
- Accidents during crop cultivation and harvesting
- Accidents during cattle farming, poultry farming, and dairy farming
- Accidents involving irrigation equipment and water pumps
- Injuries in market yards while handling agricultural produce
- Any other accident directly related to agricultural work
This is where the Haryana Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Samuhik Pashudhan Bima Yojana becomes genuinely impressive. The premium is so small that for most farmers the question is not whether they can afford it — it is why they have not done it already.
For SC Beneficiaries: Zero. Completely free. Not a single rupee.
For APL and Other Category Beneficiaries:
Animal Type | Premium Per Year |
Large Animal — Low Milk Yield | Rs. 100 Per Animal |
Large Animal — Medium Milk Yield | Rs. 200 Per Animal |
Large Animal — High Milk Yield | Rs. 300 Per Animal |
Small Animal — Sheep, Goat, Pig | Rs. 25 Per Animal |
The remaining premium above the farmer’s contribution is paid jointly by the State and Central Government as subsidy. For a buffalo worth Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 80,000 paying Rs. 200 or Rs. 300 per year in premium is genuinely one of the most practical financial decisions a farmer can make.
Insurance Duration: The standard coverage period is 1 year with one premium payment. Farmers can also opt for 3-year coverage with the approval of the Haryana Livestock Development Board — meaning one payment covers the animal for three full years.
The Jeevan Suraksha Yojana covers accidents during agricultural work specifically. The following are not covered:
- Natural death — illness, disease, or health-related causes
- Accidents completely unrelated to farming or agricultural activity
- Self-inflicted injuries
- Accidents under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Disability or death caused by pre-existing medical conditions
For Death Claims:
- Death Certificate of the deceased farmer or labourer
- FIR or Police Report of the accident
- Post-mortem Report
- Proof that the deceased was engaged in agricultural work at the time of accident
- Legal heir certificate or nominee details
- Aadhaar Card of the deceased and the legal representative
- Bank account details of the legal representative
- Land records or proof of agricultural labourer status
For Disability and Injury Claims:
- Medical Certificate from a government hospital confirming the nature and extent of disability
- FIR or Police Report of the accident
- Aadhaar Card of the applicant
- Proof of agricultural activity at the time of accident
- Bank account passbook — Aadhaar-linked
- PPP Family ID
- Passport size photograph
The Kisan Evam Khetihar Majdoor Jeevan Suraksha Yojana can be applied for both online and offline. Here is the complete process for both:
Step 1 — Open saralharyana.gov.in on your phone or computer. Before entering anything take one second to confirm the URL is exactly right. That one check keeps you completely safe from fake websites.
Step 2 — New to the SARAL portal? Click Register and fill in your name, Aadhaar number, and mobile number. Verify your details through the OTP that arrives on your phone. Once verified your account is ready. Already have an account? Simply log in directly and move forward.
Step 3 — Once you are logged in click Apply for Services. In the search bar type Mukhyamantri Kisan Evam Khetihar Majdoor Jeevan Suraksha Yojana and click on the scheme when it appears. You are now on the application page.
Step 4 — Before filling anything take out all your documents and keep them open beside you. Fill in every field carefully — the injured or deceased person’s details, nature of the accident, date, and what agricultural activity was happening at the time. Be specific and accurate. The more clearly you describe the accident the smoother your claim moves forward.
Step 5 — Upload all documents one by one. Before uploading each file confirm it is fully clear and readable. The FIR and medical certificate are the two most important documents in this entire application — if either one is blurry or incomplete your claim will be put on hold immediately. Take an extra minute to make sure both are sharp and complete before uploading.
Step 6 — Scroll back through the entire form one final time. Read every field. Check every uploaded document. Once you are completely satisfied that everything is accurate and nothing is missing — submit. The moment submission is confirmed save your application number immediately — screenshot it, write it down, or send it to yourself. That number is your tracking reference for everything that follows.
Step 1 — Visit the nearest HSAMB District Office or Market Committee office in your district. If you are not sure where the nearest office is call the HSAMB Toll Free number at 18001802060 and ask.
Step 2 — Ask the office staff for the application form for the Jeevan Suraksha Yojana. The form is completely free — no one should charge you anything for it.
Step 3 — Sit down and fill in the form completely and carefully. Sign across every supporting document and write Self Attested on each one. Attach all self-attested documents neatly with the filled form. Before leaving the house go through the complete document list one final time to make sure nothing is missing — a missing document means a wasted trip.
Step 4 — Submit the complete application package at the HSAMB District Office. Before you walk out make sure you have a proper written acknowledgement receipt in your hand with the date of submission clearly mentioned. Keep that receipt somewhere very safe — it is your proof that your application was submitted correctly and on time.
After applying wait 7 to 15 days and check your status:
- Go to saralharyana.gov.in and log in
- Click Track Application Status
- Enter your application number and registered mobile number
- Your current status will appear
Status meanings:
- Under Review — Being processed. Wait a few more days
- Approved — Compensation will be transferred to the bank account
