Let us start with something that a lot of poor families in Haryana live with quietly every single day but rarely talk about openly.
A house that is slowly falling apart around them.
Walls with cracks running through them that get a little wider every monsoon. A roof that leaks every time it rains heavily. A floor that has not seen proper repair in years. Doors and windows that barely close anymore. The kind of house where you can see the damage everywhere you look but where fixing it has never been possible because the money was simply never there.
For a family that is already stretched thin managing daily food expenses and basic needs the thought of spending Rs. 50,000 or Rs. 80,000 on house repairs feels completely impossible. So the cracks stay. The leaks get worse every year. The floor remains broken. And the family continues living in a house that is deteriorating around them — not because they do not care about their home but because no matter how much they care they genuinely cannot afford to fix it.
The Haryana Government looked at this reality and launched the Dr. BR Ambedkar Awas Navinikaran Yojana specifically to help these families. BPL families, Scheduled Caste families, Backward Class families, and other economically weaker section families in Haryana who are living in houses that desperately need repair can receive a financial grant of Rs. 80,000 directly into their bank account under this scheme.
No middlemen. No agents. No one telling you exactly which wall to fix or which roof to repair. Just Rs. 80,000 going straight from the government into your bank account so you can fix the house your family lives in and make it safe, decent, and liveable again.
This complete guide covers everything you need to know about this scheme — what it is, who qualifies, how much you get, what documents you need, and exactly how to apply from start to finish.
The Dr. BR Ambedkar Awas Navinikaran Yojana is a housing repair and renovation assistance scheme run by the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Department of the Government of Haryana. All applications are accepted only online through the SARAL Haryana Portal at saralharyana.gov.in and the dedicated scheme portal at schemes.haryanascbc.gov.in/NY.
The scheme is named after Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar — the architect of the Indian Constitution and the most powerful voice in Indian history for the rights and dignity of the most marginalised people in society. Naming a housing scheme after him is completely fitting because the entire purpose of this scheme is something Dr. Ambedkar fought for his entire life — ensuring that the poorest and most disadvantaged families in society can live with basic dignity in a home that does not threaten their safety and health.
The scheme is not new — it has been running in Haryana for several years. But it has been revised and expanded significantly over time. When it first started the grant amount was Rs. 25,000 and the scheme covered only SC and BC families. It was then revised to Rs. 50,000. In the most recent version the scheme was expanded to cover BPL families from all categories and the grant amount was raised to Rs. 80,000. That progression shows a genuine commitment from the government to making this scheme more inclusive and more practically useful with every revision.

Let us go through every eligibility condition clearly so you know exactly where your family stands:
Residency
You must be a permanent resident of Haryana with a valid Haryana domicile certificate. This scheme is only for families living in Haryana — residents from other states are not covered.
Category
The scheme covers the following categories:
- Scheduled Caste SC families
- De-notified Tribes DT and Tapriwas caste families
- Backward Class BC families
- BPL families from any category
That last point is really important and a lot of people do not know it. You do not have to be from an SC or BC caste to qualify. If your family has a valid BPL card and meets the income limit you are eligible regardless of your caste or religion. The scheme is open to every genuinely poor family in Haryana.
Annual Income
Your annual family income from all sources must be at or below Rs. 1.80 lakh as recorded in your Parivar Pehchan Patra PPP Family ID. This check happens automatically through the PPP database the moment you enter your Family ID on the portal. So before you sit down to apply open your Family ID and make sure it is showing your correct income. If it is showing the wrong income even a slightly higher figure your application will not pass the eligibility check. Get it corrected at your nearest Common Service Centre or SARAL Kendra first.
House Ownership
The house that needs repair must be officially registered in your name. Not in your husband’s name, not in your father’s name, not in a family member’s name — in your name specifically. If the house is registered in someone else’s name the application must be submitted by that person. Applications where the house ownership does not match the applicant’s name are rejected.
House Age
The house must have been constructed at least 10 years ago. A house built less than 10 years back does not qualify for repair assistance under this scheme. This condition ensures the grant goes to genuinely old houses that have had time to develop wear, damage, and structural issues that require significant repair.
No Previous Grant in Last 10 Years
You must not have received any housing repair or construction grant from any department of the Haryana Government in the last 10 years. If you received any housing-related grant from any government scheme within the last decade you are not eligible to apply again until that 10 year window has fully passed. Please be honest about this condition when applying — providing false information here can lead to serious complications later.
The House Must Be Repairable
The house must be in a condition where repair is possible and meaningful. This scheme is specifically for repairing an existing structure — not for knocking it down and building something new. If the house is so completely destroyed that it cannot be repaired at all and needs full reconstruction a different housing scheme would be more appropriate.
Quick Summary:
Condition | Requirement |
Residency | Permanent Resident of Haryana |
Category | SC, DT, Tapriwas, BC, or BPL Any Category |
Annual Income | Up to Rs. 1.80 Lakh via PPP Family ID |
House Ownership | Must Be in Applicant’s Name |
House Age | Minimum 10 Years Old |
Previous Grant | No Housing Grant in Last 10 Years |
House Condition | Must Be Repairable |
The grant under this scheme is Rs. 80,000. That is the full amount and it goes directly into your Aadhaar-linked bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer. No cash is handed over anywhere in the process. No one collects it on your behalf. The money moves from the government straight into your account.
To understand why Rs. 80,000 matters it helps to remember where this scheme started. The original grant was Rs. 25,000. Then it was revised to Rs. 50,000. Now it stands at Rs. 80,000. Each revision was a recognition that the previous amount was not enough to make a real and meaningful difference in actual repair costs. Rs. 80,000 is not going to build you a new house but it is a genuinely useful amount that can fund a roof repair, fix cracked walls, lay new flooring, replace broken doors and windows, sort out electrical work, and make real improvements that change how liveable a home feels for a family that has been putting up with damage for years.
The government does not give you a specific list of permitted repairs. The grant is for general house repair and renovation of your existing home. Common and clearly appropriate uses include:
- Roof repair or full replacement to stop leaks
- Plastering and repairing cracked or damaged walls
- Laying or repairing damaged flooring
- Replacing broken or deteriorated doors and windows
- Whitewashing and basic finishing work
- Electrical repairs and rewiring
- Toilet and sanitation facility repair or improvement
- Reinforcing weakened or structurally compromised elements
The key condition is simple — the money must be used for repairing the existing house. It cannot be used for constructing a new building on the plot.
Get all these documents ready before you begin the application:
Mandatory Documents:
- Aadhaar Card of the applicant
- Parivar Pehchan Patra PPP Family ID
- BPL Ration Card
- Caste Certificate for SC, BC, DT, or Tapriwas category applicants
- Land Proof confirming the house is in the applicant’s name
- Clear photographs of the house showing its current damaged condition along with the owner standing in front of it
- Aadhaar-linked Bank Passbook with photograph
- Electricity Bill, Water Bill, or House Tax receipt as additional address proof
- Haryana Domicile Certificate
- Reservation Certificate if applicable
- Passport size photograph of the applicant
Make sure every document is clearly scanned and fully readable before uploading. Sign across each document and write Self Attested on it before uploading.
Every application under this scheme must be submitted online. Offline applications are not accepted under any circumstances. Here is the complete process:
Go to saralharyana.gov.in on your phone or computer. This is where all applications for this scheme are submitted. Before entering anything take one quick look at the URL and confirm you are on the real government website. Fake portals exist and one second of checking keeps you completely safe.
First time on SARAL? Click on New User Register Here and create your account using your mobile number and basic details. It takes just a couple of minutes. Already have a SARAL account? Log in directly with your existing username and password.
Once you are on your dashboard use the search bar and type Dr. BR Ambedkar Awas Navinikaran Yojana. The scheme will appear in the results. Click on it and the application page will open.
The portal will ask for your Parivar Pehchan Patra Family ID. Enter your 8-digit Family ID carefully and correctly. The moment you enter it the system will automatically pull up your family details and check your income eligibility directly from the PPP database. This is why your Family ID must be updated with the correct income before this step. If it is not updated correctly the system will flag you as ineligible even if your actual income is well within the limit.
Once the OTP goes through successfully, you will land straight on your family dashboard. Think of this page as your PPP control center — everything currently stored in your profile is right there in front of you. Before doing anything else, just scroll through the details slowly and make a mental note of exactly what looks wrong or outdated in your family ID update.
Upload all required documents one by one. Before uploading each file open it quickly and confirm it is clear, completely readable, and within the file size limit. The photographs of your house showing its current damaged condition are especially important here. Take clear photographs that honestly show the damage — a cracked wall, a leaking roof, a broken floor. These photographs are what the verification officer will look at to assess the actual condition of your house. Make sure they are clear, honest, and show the real situation.
A small application fee of Rs. 10 is charged for online submission. Pay it through the payment options available on the SARAL portal. This is the only fee involved in this entire process. If anyone is asking you to pay more than Rs. 10 for anything related to this application that person is not authorised to do so.
Before hitting submit scroll back through your entire application one final time. Read every field. Check every uploaded document. Make sure nothing is missing or incorrect. Once everything looks completely right go ahead and submit.
The moment your application is successfully submitted a SARAL application number will appear on screen. Do not close that page without saving it. Screenshot it, write it in a notebook, message it to yourself — whatever works just make sure it is saved safely. That number is how you track your application and you absolutely cannot afford to lose it.
You have two options to check your status after submitting:
Method 1 — Through the Scheme Portal:
Go to schemes.haryanascbc.gov.in/NY and click on Citizen Login. Enter your SARAL ID as your username and use 123456 as the default password. Once inside select the scheme you applied for and your current application status will appear. If your application is on hold for a document issue you can also upload corrected documents directly from here without resubmitting a fresh application.
Method 2 — Through SARAL Portal:
Log in to saralharyana.gov.in, go to Track Application Status, enter your application number, and your current status will show up immediately.
Your PPP Family ID must show the correct income before you apply — get it updated first if needed. The house must genuinely be in your name — no exceptions. Confirm the house is at least 10 years old and that this can be backed up by your land records. Be completely honest about whether you have received any housing grant in the last 10 years — providing false information creates serious problems later. Take clear honest photographs of your house damage before applying — they are one of the most important parts of your application. The application costs only Rs. 10 — never pay large amounts to any agent. And if your application gets put on hold log into the scheme portal immediately and upload whatever document is being asked for rather than waiting and hoping it will resolve on its own.

It is a house repair and renovation assistance scheme run by the Welfare of SC and BC Department, Government of Haryana. Eligible BPL families, SC families, BC families, and DT Tapriwas families receive a financial grant of Rs. 80,000 directly into their bank account for repairing and renovating their existing home. Applications are accepted only online through the SARAL Haryana Portal at saralharyana.gov.in.
The grant is Rs. 80,000 transferred directly into the applicant's Aadhaar-linked bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer. Earlier the scheme gave Rs. 25,000 and then Rs. 50,000. The current amount of Rs. 80,000 reflects the government's recognition that actual house repair costs require a higher and more meaningful grant amount.
Permanent residents of Haryana from SC, DT, Tapriwas, or BC categories or BPL families from any category with annual family income at or below Rs. 1.80 lakh as shown in the PPP Family ID are eligible. The house must be at least 10 years old, must be registered in the applicant's name, and no housing repair grant must have been received from any Haryana government department in the last 10 years.
Yes — absolutely. If the family holds a valid BPL card and meets all other eligibility conditions including the Rs. 1.80 lakh income limit in the PPP Family ID they can apply regardless of their caste or religion. The scheme is not restricted to SC and BC families only. Any genuinely BPL family in Haryana from any category can benefit.
Log in to the scheme portal at schemes.haryanascbc.gov.in/NY using your SARAL ID and the default password 123456. Once inside select the scheme, check what specific issue has put your application on hold, and upload the corrected or missing document directly from the portal. You do not need to start a fresh application — just fix the specific issue and your existing application will continue processing from where it stopped.
Yes without any exception. The house must be officially registered in the applicant's name for the application to be valid. If the house is registered in a family member's name — even a spouse or parent — the application must be submitted by that person whose name appears on the property records. There is no flexibility on this condition and applications where the house ownership does not match the applicant are rejected.
